  • Copia makes major cutbacks to keep food and wine programs going

    Yes, it is true: the great COPIA – The American Center for Wine, Food & Art in Napa is in deep financial trouble, laying off 30 staffers and selling off its five-acre kitchen garden across First Street to a (probable) hotel developer.
    Apparently the entertainment, food and wine programs, which actually make money, will continue intact and possibly even expand, while the exhibits will close and be discontinued.

  • New Report Shows Interest In Unoaked Chardonnay On The Rise

    Frequent wine drinkers in the U.S. may be losing their taste for oaky Chardonnay, according to a report released Oct. 17 by Wine Opinions. Awareness of "unoaked Chardonnay" wines stands at 59% and is growing, the survey results show. "Of those who have heard of these wines, 78% have tasted or purchased unoaked Chardonnay wines," said Christian Miller, research director of Wine Opinions. "And interest in trying these wines among the rest of core consumers is remarkably high. From our data, it looks like the wine consumer market is fracturing when it comes to a taste for oak in Chardonnay."
