A recent sting in Iowa that found an out-of-state retailer shipping wine to an Iowa resident in violation of that state's laws points to the need for creating a "direct shippers" permit for both out-of-state retailers and wineries, as well as the national wine wholesalers double standard inspired by self interest, according to the Specialty Wine Retailers Association.

Gallo said the new line of wines includes Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, a Cabernet-Pinotage blend, and a flagship proprietary blend of Shiraz and Pinotage which is labeled as Cape Blend. Kohn's Kosher Meat and Deli Restaurant at 10405 Old Olive Street Road had just started serving dinner on Thursday nights, and the place was packed. This is some of the most intimate and satisfying wine tasting I've done in years. I visited six tasting rooms and wasn't charged a cent to sample as many as 10 wines per winery. Everyone was welcoming and knowledgeable, and at three wineries, the owner worked behind the bar. It was a holiday weekend, yet parking was a breeze, and I spotted just two limousines in three days.

Old rules for wine are changing
Wilson, who was host of a Cajun-style cooking show on PBS for years, used to end his show by sitting down in front of whatever dish he had prepared and pour himself a big glass of red wine. Sometimes, the dish Wilson prepared would be of the fish variety and when that would happen, as he poured his glass of red wine he would say: “They say you’re supposed to drink white wine with fish. But they also say you should drink the kind of wine you like.”
